Application Process

The Educator Advancement Council has 15 members who are appointed by state agency representatives to serve two year terms. Members can re-apply to serve additional terms upon completion of a term.

Current Open Seats

We are currently recruiting applicants for four positions on the Council to serve from July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2028:

  • PK-12 Educator

  • Educator Preparation Provider Representative

  • Education-focused Non-Profit Representative

  • School District Superintendent

2026–2027 Application Process & Timeline

  • May 8: Application and recruitment period opens for vacant member seats; materials are posted on the EAC website and staff conduct outreach to partner organizations

  • August 16 (date subject to change): Applications due

  • August 17–21: EAC staff review submitted applications

  • August 21: EAC staff forward recommendations to state agency representatives for their approval

  • September 2: Applicants notified of selection outcomes

September (date TBD): Council votes to appoint new members

About the Application

The Electronic Application is a basic application that tells our office about you, your background, and why you want to serve on the Council. You will need to include your resume, a short personal biography, and answers to supplemental questions. Only complete applications will be considered.

You may apply at any time, regardless of whether there is a current opening, as resignations occur throughout the year. If you are being actively considered for an appointment, you will hear from the EAC office staff.

  • All demographic questions are optional and are elicited in order to ensure consideration of the talent and creativity of a diverse pool of candidates. 

  • All applications are considered public records and subject to the public records law. Should your materials be requested as a public record, the state will make every effort to protect all personal information (i.e., addresses, phone numbers, and narrative information that would be considered an invasion of privacy).
